Giving Christmas gifts can sometimes feel like an exercise in redundancy. Every year, you try to find gifts that will mean something, but that aren’t useless to the person you’re giving them to. For example, you don’t want to keep buying a tie for your dad every year, but you know he likes to wear ties, so you figure that you can’t go wrong with that. It’s not that much fun to give someone the same thing every year, but you don’t want to risk giving a gift they’ll never use. So you just content yourself with being redundant, and buy the same boring gift year after year. This year, it might do well to try something completely different. You can still buy a gift that’s usable, but it can also be beneficial. Treadmills and other exercise equipment make brilliant Christmas gifts because they are good for everyone.

Anyone, from your grandmother on down to your teenaged niece, can benefit from treadmills. Exercise equipment is unique in the sense that it can be used by a large number of people, unlike a pair of pants or a cell phone. Everyone in the family can share one treadmill, and all will be better for having done so. Treadmills are an excellent way to lose weight, gain strength, or just maintain general health, all without having to leave the house.

Walking and running daily are both shown to decrease the risk of heart problems and high blood pressure, so giving a treadmill is akin to giving the gift of health.
